The N°06 is the smallest Opinel with Virobloc® double safety ring. Ideal for outdoor activities and sports, N°06 is also practical and efficient for daily manual work (small crafts and sewing). Its size is particularly suited to the most minor hands.
The classic Opinel blade has adopted a Yatagan shape. The Yatagan shape is inspired by a traditional Turkish saber, the toe up. The blade is ground to an exclusive convex profile that ensures the strength of the blade and allows efficient regrinding.
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
With a hardness rating of 55-57 HRC, the stainless steel employed in OPINEL blades originates from Europe. Carefully selected for optimal performance, this grade ensures a fine balance between high corrosion resistance and superior mechanical strength.
The blade, a testament to precision engineering, boasts exceptional sharpness and remarkable resistance to abrasion, enabling it to endure frequent contact with hard materials like ceramics without losing its edge. This feature allows the blade to maintain its cutting efficacy over extended periods before necessitating re-sharpening.
